THE Singapore-flagged 1,049 TEU Asiatic Sun has crashed into a wharf bow first last Sunday in the Port of Taichung, reports Taiwan English News.

Taichung Port authorities said the ship crashed into Taichung Port Pier 8A as it was attempting to dock at 7.33am.

The Maritime Port Bureau of the Ministry of Transport and Communications has initiated an investigation into the incident. Strong winds are believed to have been a factor.
