Baltimore bridge incident: US sues for clean-up costs
THE US Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the owner and operator of the Dali cargo ship, seeking over US$100 million in damages after the ship destroyed the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, killing six people.
The lawsuit aims to recover clean-up costs incurred by the federal government, which worked to clear debris and reopen the Port of Baltimore.
The Justice Department is also pursuing punitive damages to prevent future incidents.
