Aqaba Container Terminal posts 24pc first half growth

 Jordan's Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) recorded strong operational growth in the first half of 2025, reports Amman's Jordan Times.

ACT, run by Maersk subsidiary APMT, handled 468,062 TEU in H1 2025, up 24 per cent from 377,456 TEU in H1 2024.

The terminal processed 80,172 TEU in June 2025, a 14.9 per cent increase over June 2024.

ACT served 293 vessels in H1 2025, up from 200 in the same period last year.

Truck transactions rose to 281,585 in H1 2025, compared to 216,071 in H1 2024.

The terminal saw a 117 per cent rise in transit cargo, reinforcing its regional hub status.

CEO Harald Nijhof credited the growth to ACT's workforce and strategic infrastructure investments.

ACT said it remains focused on enhancing regional trade through service reliability and supply chain resilience.
