Los Angeles-Long Beach container volume falls 3.6pc in June

CONTAINER volume moving through the Port of Los Angeles fell 6.2 per cent in June as America's largest container port complex prepares for the peak season.

Long Beach volume dropped 4.4 per cent to 583.621 TEU in June 2014. In the first half throughput was 3.3 million TEU, up 0.1 per cent year on year.

Combined imports at the ports of LA and Long Beach fell 3.6 per cent year on year in June to 368,708 TEU. 

Weak exports partly accounted for an increase of nearly six per cent in empties. Including empties, total volume through the two ports fell 3.1 per cent to 1,305,423 TEU.
