CMA CGM implements 'emergency space surcharge' on Marseille-Tunis trade
FOLLOWING the announcement by CMA CGM that it is to introduce an 'emergency bunker surcharge' on June 1, the French shipping giant has now said it's implementing an 'emergency space surcharge' on its roro services on its Marseille-Tunis trade. The shipping line explained that "its containerships have been undergoing severe congestion at Tunis/Rades port (Tunisia) for several weeks, and the shift towards roro services is generating a difficult situation with lack of space." The 'emergency space surcharge' of US$50 per dry cargo TEU and reefer from Marseille to Tunis/Rades will come into effect on June 1 (B/L date), reports AJOT.
