SPOT rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending last Friday edged up slightly by 0.5 per cent to US$890 per TEU.

Asia-Mediterranean rates rose 2.0 per cent to $968 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).

Rates from Shanghai to US west coast ticked up by 0.9 per cent to $2,692 per FEU while China-US east coast increased slightly by 0.5 per cent to $3,303 FEU.
