Persian Gulf King Abdul Aziz Port sets new container record
KING Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam achieved a new milestone by handling 292,612 TEU in May 2024, surpassing its previous record of 289,787 TEU set in March 2024, reports London's Port Technology.
The port features 43 fully serviced berths, enabling it to manage up to 105 million tonnes of cargo and containers.
The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) is transforming King Abdul Aziz Port into a smart port through the Smart Ports Initiative, leveraging 5G technology to automate operations and significantly boost container handling capacity.
In addition, DP World and MAWANI have recently begun constructing a new SAR900 million ($240 million) logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port.
