South Africa's Ngqura port docks biggest ship to date
South Africa's Port of Ngqura has welcomed its largest-ever container ship, reports South Africa Today.
The 24,116-TEU MSC Nicolo Mistro docked after a three-hour operation involving four tugboats.
The ship's arrival comes amid shifting trade patterns from US-China tariff tensions.
Port authorities highlighted the facility's role in supporting automotive and citrus exports.
Another 391-metre vessel is expected soon, confirming Ngqura's growing transshipment role.
The manoeuvre was led by the port's first female pilot to dock a vessel of this size.
Transnet National Ports Authority confirmed more mega-vessel arrivals are scheduled.
