Wan Hai names final 13,100-TEUer at Samsung

Taiwan's Wan Hai Lines held a naming ceremony for Wan Hai A20, the last in a series of thirteen 13,100-TEU ships built by Samsung Heavy Industries, reported Saint Petersburg's PortNews.

The vessel was named at Samsung's Geoje shipyard in South Korea. Upon delivery, it will operate on Wan Hai's Asia-South America West Coast service (ASA).

Each ship in the series measures 335 metres in length, 51 metres in width, and has a 16-metre draft. They feature energy-saving engines and fuel-efficient technologies.

The final three vessels, starting with Wan Hai A18, are equipped with large wind deflectors to reduce fuel consumption. All 13 ships received "Smart Ship Notation" certification for real-time monitoring of navigation and equipment.

With the series complete, Wan Hai Lines has expanded its fleet capacity and plans to take delivery of 30 additional newbuild vessels between 2026 and 2030.
