Hapag-Lloyd ups east Asia-Red Sea rate US$500/TEU from November

GERMAN shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates for all cargo and container types from east Asia (excluding Japan) to Red Sea from November 1.

The Red Sea is defined as being the ports of Jeddah, Aqaba, Sokhna, Port Sudan and Hodeida, the company said.

Earlier, Hapag Lloyd announced an increase from north east Asia to Australia by US$400 per TEU from October 24.

The company defines north east Asia as Korea, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
