Hong Kong's AAT renews TAPA FSR 2014 Standards and ISAGO certifications
HONG KONG's Asia Airfreight Terminal Company Ltd (AAT) has successfully renewed its Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) accreditation, classification level A, for a period of three years under the enhanced Freight Security Requirement (FSR) Standards (version 2014).
AAT has effectively become the first air cargo terminal operator (CTO) in Hong Kong to achieve this certification, according to a company release.
The TAPA certification is widely considered to be one of the most rigorous and independent logistics and supply chain security certifications. The certification process involves a wide range of stringent auditing focusing on how high-value cargo is securely handled throughout the global supply chain.
"AAT fully understands and supports the increasing global concern for more stringent safety and security requirements in the air cargo industry," the AAT statement said.
"AAT has invested in a wider coverage of advanced and high definition (HD) CCTV systems and physical barriers, enhanced the security systems of intruder and panic alarms, as well as installation of time-out alarms system and record retrieval functions.
"Moreover, AAT's operations staff are well trained in security standards, risk assessments and operating procedures."
The company has also successfully renewed its IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) certification for a two-year period.
It achieved the stringent ISAGO qualification criteria and satisfactory standards in ground support equipment management, staff training, safety and security measures and process management.
The company said this further ensures enhanced operational safety and efficiency within the airport ground operations environment by minimising ground accidents and the need for frequent audits by airlines on ground service providers.
Said IATA Hong Kong general manager Yvonne Ho: "With this certification, AAT is among 157 ground service providers that have demonstrated a strong commitment to delivering safer ground operations."
