10,070-TEU APL Le Havre ablaze off India's Gujarat coast
THE Singapore-flagged 10,070-TEU APL Le Havre caught fire over the weekend off Gujarat coast, India in the Arabian Sea, while en route from Karachi to Mumbai, reports Kiev's Maritime Bulletin, which specialises in marine casualties. The 123,137-dwt ship slowed and turned to Mundra Port, Gulf of Kutch, after the fire broke out and was under Indian Coast Guard escort as she came to shore. She reached the Gulf of Kutch in the morning August 10, but wasn’t anchored at Mundra Anchorage, contrary to official statement. Le Havre then moved off Mundra with the blaze reportedly under control, though it is not clear where exactly fire started. The operator is Neptune Shipmanagement (AIS).
