Ningbo-Zhoushan port's 2019 sea-rail cargo volumes soar 33pc in 2019
THE container throughput in sea-rail transport at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in east China's Zhejiang Province increased over 33.3 per cent year on year in 2019, according to the port.
The container throughput exceeded 800,000 TEU in 2019, making the port the second largest in the country's sea-rail transport sector after east China's Qingdao port, according to Xinhua.
Currently, Ningbo-Zhoushan port operates 17 sea-rail transportation routes covering fifteen provinces, cities and regions domestically. It has also launched cold chain sea-rail transport and other services to expand its operations.
In December last year, the port commenced operation of Chuanshangang railway, which is jointly invested and constructed by Ningbo municipal government and China Railway Group. The new railway link will be able to further improve the multi-modal transportation capacity of Ningbo-Zhoushan port, reports Seatrade Maritime News, Colchester, UK.
