GERMAN shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd says it will divert ships from the Port of Montreal because "we expect that the terminal performance will be severely affected by strike,." reports the American Journal of Transportation.

Thus, the OOCL Belgium will now divert to PSA Terminal at Halifax arriving Friday August 15 as will the Genoa Express, but to Halifax's Ceres Terminal, arriving Sunday August 16.

"This event is well beyond Hapag-Lloyd's control. Pursuant to the terms and conditions in bills of lading and/or sea waybill, it may prove necessary to divert other vessels," said the company.
