South Korea to deploy ships to help exporters cushion high rates

SOUTH KOREA declared it will support exporters as the expected global freight cost price declines would be slow in coming, reports Seoul's EconoTimes.

The nation will deploy five vessels by the end of February to supporter exporters dealing with freight costs due to soaring demand.

A 4,600-TEU ship from South Korea's leading shipper Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), will be sent on the American route in January, while a 5,000-TEU vessel will head to Europe the month after.

Also, in February, SM Line Corp will deploy 3,400-TEU and 6,500-TEU ships to the US.
