Seaspan receives its seventh 10,000-TEUer bound for ONE service

HONG Kong's Seaspan Corporation has accepted delivery of its seventh SAVER design, 10,000 TEU containership, the MOL Beacon.

The ship, built at Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding in Taixing midway between Nanjing and Shanghai, is Seaspan's first delivery this year.

This is the twelfth 10,000 TEU vessel using Seaspan's SAVER design constructed at Yangzijiang.

The MOL Beacon will commence an eight-year, fixed-rate time charter with Japan's Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), whose container operation is handled by Singapore-based Ocean Network Express, owned together with Japan's NYK and "K" Line.

The ship is the fourth of a total of five 10,000 TEU SAVER design vessels, and the 10th of a total of 11 vessels, to be chartered by Seaspan to MOL.
