COSCO becomes world's fifth largest terminal operator

THE latest survey done by Drewry's ship consultancy in London shows that COSCO has become the world's fifth largest terminal operator, Xinhua reported.

COSCO has set its foot on terminals around the globe in places including China, America and Europe. It is currently operating more than 150 berths at home and abroad with an aggregate annual capacity of 45 million TEU.

The giant operates terminals in China at Dalian, Yingkou, Tianjin, Qingdao, Shanghai, Taicang, Zhangjiangang, Nanjing, Yangzhou, Ningbo, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, and in the US, as well as Holland, Belgium, France, Italy, Singapore and Egypt.

President of COSCO Group Wei Jiafu said the group first started its terminal business in 1998 and ten years later, it has grown to be the world's fifth largest.
