Shanghai foreign trade value increased 32.8pc in 2010


SHANGHAI customs statistics show the commercial capital of the country achieved the highest trade value in China of US$684.7 billion, up 32.8 per cent compared to 2009, Xinhua reports.
Export valued $423.3 billion, increasing 3.2 per cent, while import rose 37.3 per cent to 261.3 billion, generating a trade surplus of $162 billion, up 20.2 per cent.
Trade with emerging markets showed greater increases than Europe, America and Japan. Trade with ASEAN surged 45.5 per cent to $69 billion, with Korea, it grew 45.3 per cent to $1.9 billion while trade with Latin America increased 41 per cent to $37.3 billion.
The trade deficit with Korea soared 110 per cent to $14.1 billion, overtaking Taiwan's.
