NORMAL operations at the Port of Ningbo have resumed after the end of a six-day truckers' strike involving thousands of drivers disrupted services, reported Reuters.

Overland shipment resumed after the Ningbo municipal government called all parties to follow new guidelines for higher haulage rates, reported Lloyd's List.

Local authorities also adopted measures that include waiving road tolls and 24-hour customs operation to improve cargo flow.

Thousands of truckers in the Beilun area, which handles more than half Ningbo’s volume, struck over haulage rates, environmental regulations, "unreasonable" port entry fees and shipper payment terms.

The strike started in Ningbo’s bonded zone, where truckers blocked roads before clashing with police and smashed the windscreens of trucks defying picket lines.
